Meryem Yavuz
Founding Producer, Cinematographer
Born in Istanbul in 1983 and pursued her studies in cinema at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In 2009, she gained acceptance to the Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus. Her cinematography work on many feature films (Two Lines, Eye Am, Seaburners, Dust Cloth, Debt, Road to the Moon, Passed By Censor, Girl With No Mouth, Not Knowing, Suddenly, Not As You Know…) shorts (Nolya, Vanished Into Blue, Mother Virgin No More, Tuesday, Road to London, Oglago, Outskirts, Letters From Silivri, Mamaville, Lussy, After 30 Minutes…) & documentaries (The Others, Amina, Love Child, The Guardian, My Name is Happy, Blue ID, Eren…) has earned her recognition at some of the biggest film festivals in the world, including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, IDFA, Camerimage. In 2020, she earned acceptance into the American Society of Cinematographers Vision Mentorship Program. She has shared her expertise in cinematography by teaching at Bahçeşehir University in the Photography-Video Department & Kadir Has University in the Radio, Television and Cinema Departments. She is a member of European Film Academy, Cinema&Television Workers’ Union Turkey, Cinematographers’ Association of Turkey and IMAGO Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Our Seeds (wt), the first feature-length documentary film of which she is also the producer as well as the cinematographer, is currently in production stage and is supported by IDFA Bertha, Sundance Institute and Redford Grant Center. The project is developed on the IDFA Project Space and Close Up Documentary Development Program.
